I may have found my dream tyres – Vittoria Terreno Zero 700x32c Product Reviews Views & Opinion by MuddyGoose - October 7, 2020October 7, 202010 Tyres, tyres, tyres. (or even tires if you're from the US). This won't be the first time that I've blogged about tyres and it may not be the last time either. But when this set of tyres wears out, it may well be the first time I replace like for like. So have I finally found a tyre that I'm happy to keep buying and riding year after year? Very possibly. Towards the end of 2019, I decided to buy some tyres for the winter which could double up as suitable for light gravel riding. At the time I struggled to decide between the Vittoria Terreno Dry and the Vittoria Terreno Zero. The Dry being more treaded and classed by Vittoria
Long Term Review of my Vittoria Terreno Dry G2.0 TNT Tubeless Tyres Product Reviews by MuddyGoose - April 17, 2020April 17, 202011 I'm going to make an early declaration that here in the UK the winter is now over! We've started April with nothing but blue skies and sunshine and had barely a drop of rain, there's been some cool mornings but nothing leading to proper frost. So now that I've said that we can expect the weather to change suddenly, storms to roll in and the BBQs to be well and truly packed away again! But anyway, there is a purpose to this opener; my winter tyres will soon be coming off the rims and a pair of fresh slicker summer tyres taking their place. A good time for a review of how they have performed then. Let's go back to
Review: My new Garmin Venu Smartwatch Product Reviews by MuddyGoose - March 19, 2020May 10, 20204 Anyone who knows me will also know that I don't conform to the norm just because everyone else does. I also don't conform because it's the trendy option or it's written in 'the rules'. Hence why I've never chosen to invest in a Garmin computer for my bike. I've never understood why I'd want to spend more money for less functionality; so I bought an android smartphone instead. It does the same job only better. So, a Garmin smartwatch; have I had a change of heart? 1864
Hutchinson Toro 26″ MTB Tyres Peak District by MuddyGoose - March 16, 20190 It seems that by 'lack of action' I have now found myself in a minority group. Not in ethnicity or sexual orientation but on this occasion by mtb tyre size. Maybe not across the entire population but certainly within the enthusiast realm. There may still be millions of cheap 'supermarket' bikes out there on 26" wheels but if you're looking for a new tyre for proper mountain biking, particularly if tubeless is your thing then the choices are limited these days. Maybe I should take this as a notification to upgrade to 27.5" but that would require a new frame, fork and wheels. Pretty much an entire new bike. And having assembled my own wheels several years ago I've since become
Single chainring on a road bike? Ah, go on then! – SRAM Force 1x Chainring Maintenance Product Reviews by MuddyGoose - October 8, 20170 It has been several years since I reconfigured my mountain bike to run a single chainring and I haven't looked back since. Even running an old 9 speed rear setup alongside the single front, hasn't caused me any issues. So with the advent of SRAM proclaiming the greatness of 1x and now offering single ring conversion options for road bikes it's been something I've been considering for most of this year. September is my birthday month and so having received some birthday money I went ahead and bought myself a SRAM Force 42T X-sync chainring to fit to my existing crank. 1300
New Tyre – Hutchinson Sector Tubeless 700x28c Maintenance by MuddyGoose - September 7, 20170 Even the most frugal rider who resists the urge to upgrade, will still eventually have to spend some money on his or her bike. Things do wear out after all and one of those things that wear of course is your tyres. Much like on a car, it's a gradual process that you don't see happening, a process that can creep up on you unexpectedly. Unlike car tyres though, there's no legal tread limit for bicycles, so forgetting to keep on top of things won't be bringing you a nasty fine any time soon. I for one am happy about this as my departing rear tyre would have been well beyond it's limit, with fabric casing showing through the bald
New Seatpost – Fizik Cyrano R5 Review Product Reviews by MuddyGoose - April 11, 20171 So you fancy an upgrade for your bike? What's it going to be? New wheels, new groupset, saddle, even tyres. It's unlikely to be a seatpost. Of course from time to time you have a need, in my case the saddle clamp on the old one wasn't holding in position anymore; it kept slipping, leaving me mid-ride with a saddle pointing it's nose to the sky. Hence a little research, a bit of shopping around for the best price and finally an order placed for the Fizik Cyrano R5 Seatpost. 1126
Decathlon Geonaute Scale 300 Product Reviews by MuddyGoose - April 3, 20160 I've been interested in buying a body composition scale for quite a while so when on a recent business trip to Scotland I stumbled across this one in Decathlon I decided to take the plunge. It outputs all the right measurements and at only £15.99 certainly won't break the bank. 602
