Hutchinson Fusion 5 All Season Tubeless Tyres 700x25c Maintenance Product Reviews by MuddyGoose - June 23, 20163 I have a long ride coming up, 250 miles, in a single day. I'll post more about that in another dedicated post but for now I wanted to justify the purchasing of new tyres. My current tyres are starting to get towards the end of their life, I will aim to eek out some extra miles from them later in the year but for the big ride I wanted some that were wider and newer. So after much studying of the options I've decided to go for the Hutchinson Fusion 5 in the 'All Season' guise and in the 700x25c size. 789
Exmouth and the Devon coastal hills – Salcombe Hill #12 Devon by MuddyGoose - June 7, 20160 I knew it was going to be a tough hill climb when I started feeling a little queasy, in fact I had to come to a complete stop and even had to take a moment to compose myself. And I hadn't even arrived at the hill yet! 716
How to patch a road tubeless tyre Maintenance by MuddyGoose - May 24, 20160 I can hear it now - "I thought you didn't get punctures with tubeless!". Unfortunately this is not true. You get a whole lot fewer punctures and those that you do get are usually not disabling; so you can often complete your ride. But occasionally you get some bigger gashes, cuts and damage. And of course you can indeed patch them. 656
Hunstanton Fish & Chip Ride 2016 East Anglia by MuddyGoose - May 15, 20160 Back in February I wrote about the Yaxley Riders Reliability Trial, "One Year On – Reliability Trial 2016". It was my first repeat event and I felt rather pleased with my progress. The Hunstanton Fish & Chip ride was my next 'one year on' repeat ride and again, it went well! 682
Road Tubeless – My views (2016) Views & Opinion by MuddyGoose - April 13, 20160 Tubeless tyre technology has become a huge thing in the mountain biking world. It arrived properly several years ago and has gone from strength to strength with a huge range of tubeless wheel & tyre options available today. I too joined in, as a relatively early adopter, with a self assembled wheelset based around Mavic XM-819 rims and paired them with some UST Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres. But what about road cycling? 624
Working in Scotland; riding in the North Pennines – Hills #59 & 62 North Pennines by MuddyGoose - March 21, 20160 Traveling down from Edinburgh many people would take a well advised break during the trip. It is 6 hours of driving after all, so stopping at Leeming Bar services for a Big Mac and fries is popular. I however, prefer to stop elsewhere and get in a few hills. Numbers 59 and 62 have now been added to my list! 563
The hardest road climb in England? #55 Rosedale Chimney North York Moors by MuddyGoose - September 16, 20154 It's not the longest climb, it's not the climb boasting the greatest elevation gain either and it's also not the climb at the highest altitude but. I'm tempted just to leave it at that; just a lingering 'but'. If Rosedale Chimney isn't the steepest climb in the UK then it's pretty well close to it! 413
Taking on Holme Moss – In Single Speed! Peak District by MuddyGoose - September 15, 20153 'You're a stronger man than me; pushing out a gear like that up here', came the comment from the guy on the red Specialized as he slowly eased past me. He'd clearly noticed my chains position on my cassette as he'd followed my wheel for a while, I was riding with my chain turning the 17 tooth sprocket, not out of choice, but out of necessity. 460
Full 55 mile Commute to Work East Anglia by MuddyGoose - August 18, 20150 As I came over the brow of a shallow rise I saw them; little red blinking lights, off to the right, stationary and no I wasn't seeing things. Even after 70 km in the rain following a day's work I wasn't quite that tired! As I drew closer and I could see the jerseys in the dusk I recognised the riders, they were the group I would have gone riding with on this particular rainy evening had I not chosen to ride the 90 km from work instead. They had stopped to fix a puncture which although a pain for them was a relief for me; after 70 lonely kilometers I was relishing the opportunity to ride in a group
Dartmoor MTB Epic – Day 2 Dartmoor by MuddyGoose - July 24, 20151 I must say, it did seem to be very close to our camp but I also felt a little silly popping my head around the edge of the tarp and seeing nothing there. Maybe it's the way that sound travels up on the moors that makes the sound of the Dartmoor ponies braying in the morning seem so close. So I went back to sleep for a little longer, which gave the early morning mist a little more time to clear. 336
